4tessHey, everyone! Tessie here! And as you can see, we are having our Christmas Hair Ribbon Fashion Show! I think we mentioned last time that Miss Chrissy is having a hard time finding Christmas clothes for us that don’t say “Baby’s First Christmas,” so we decided to get creative with our Christmas spirit and concentrate on Christmas-ifying our hairstyles with some pretty red velvet ribbons.

As you can see here, I have my hair in ponytails, and I’m sporting those pretty ribbons at the top of my ponytails. It’s been so long since I’ve worn my hair in ponytails that I forgot how much I like it! Trixie and Tillie say this is an especially becoming look for me. Miss Chrissy agrees. I like it, because when I wear my hair this way, it gives me all kinds of opportunities to accesorize my hairstyle, and for a Whimsie like me who loves fashion, any time I can accessorize is a good time!

You will also notice that I’m wearing that pretty pink jammie that has little kittle kats all over it. The kittles are very little, so you might not be able to see them very well, but I like knowing they are there. We tried to get Mr. Squee to represent the feline persuation in this Fashion Show, but he just rolled his big green eyes and grumped. So, I guess my jammies will have to stand in for all kitty kats that love Christmas. I wouldn’t say Mr. Squee is a Scrooge, but I just think he doesn’t care much for fashion and dressing up.

6trix Now, here’s Trixie, and as you can see, she is finally getting to wear the red and pink striped jammie, which is so soft and comfortable, and since there are no feet on it, she is also wearing some pink socks (though you can’t see that in this picture, but you can see the socks in the Group Portrait below). We all have to be covering up our feet these days, and wearing long sleeves, because it’s been exceptionally COLD! It’s not actually cold cold in Whimsieville, but it just feels cooler than usual. But Miss Chrissy and the The Man will often run the fireplace, so that makes us toasty warm when we need it.

Trixie has placed those Christmas ribbons at the end of her pretty pink braids, and it’s that just the thing? How perfect! Overall, I would say Trixie looks festive, and completely ready for the holidays.

5till Tillie had a little trouble figuring out how to work her Christmas ribbon, and the problem it seems, is that she has SO MUCH HAIR!! Can you imagine? I sometimes wish I had long beautiful hair like Tillie, but then when I see how difficult it was for her to find a way to wear her Christmas ribbon, it occurred to me that every kind of hair style has its pluses and minuses. Tillie first tried pulling her hair back in one big ponytail, which is great, but you really can’t see her ribbon so well like that. So later, she decided to go back to her usual hairstyle, which is to let her long beautiful hair hang down her back, held back by a headband.

In the picture below you’ll see how Tillie managed to make the headband and ribbon work together for her. You’ll also notice that she is now wearing the blue polar bear jammies Trixie had on last time. You know what that means: I’m next! I’m next! Next time you see me, expect me to be in those pretty blue jammies, which both Trixie and Tillie have assured me are toasty warm and comfortable.

For our Group Portrait below, we also added a few props, some empty Christmas gift bags! They are empty now because it’s not Christmas yet, but Christmas is only ten days away, so we are hoping that Santa will be filling those bags for us with lots of nice new fashions and games!

Well, that’s it for now. We Whimsies love having our Christmas Portraits taken! We’re really hams, don’t you think? 🙂 We admit it!

And now you must excuse me, because we are all off to cuddle under the quilts and watch the Pee Wee Herman Christmas Special!!

WHIMTREEWell, last night the Whimsies finally got around to talking about the latest episode of Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD. Did it really take them four days? Yes. But as you’ll see from this conversation, it’s not so much because they’re still upset about it, but more because they’ve been excited about other things. This show is only one of many things they have on their mind. But it is on their minds, and this is what they have to say about it.

As usual, I came in somewhere in the middle of the conversation…

TRIXIE. …keeps reminding us it’s JUST a show. So we shouldn’t really get that upset about it.

TILLIE. She’s right, you know. Agent Coulson isn’t a real person, so no one’s really been kidnapped.

TESSIE. (rolling her eyes) I realize that, Till. We all realize that. But still, it doesn’t make it any less upsetting. I don’t like that it happened.

TILLIE. Neither do I! Although, you know what? I think one good thing is going to come out of this, at least.

TESSIE. What’s that?RUTH NEGGA, CLARK GREGG

TRIXIE. I know what she’s talking about! You mean because based on the coming attractions, it looks like maybe at last we’re gonna to find out what really happened to Agent Coulson, how it is that he was dead, and now he’s alive again.

TESSIE. Ooh, ooh! You’re right! That’s what the bad guys want with him, why they kidnapped him. And we see some scenes that show us stuff that make us think the show is finally going to deal with that.

TILLIE. Yeah, but do you think they REALLY will? I mean, it’s a big mystery, and they keep dropping hints. But if they solve the mystery, isn’t that going to..welll…take some of the mystery out of the show?

TRIXIE. It will. But if I know Marvel Comics, where some mystery goes out, more will come in. I don’t think it will get dull after this.

TESSIE. Yeah! Not dull at all! In fact, too exciting! At least for us Whimsies, it’s too exciting. I mean, we’re used to reading exciting stories in books, and seeing exciting movies, but with books, it all seems just a little less than real, cos you can tone it down in your imagination if you want. And with movies, it’s exciting, but then in a couple of hours it’s over, and you know what happened. But here! We see what’s happening, we CAN’T tone it down, and we DON’T know what’s going to happen!

TRIXIE. Well, that’s the genius of it all, right? That’s what makes you want to keep coming back.

TILLIE. That was one complaint I had about the show up till now, that it was too episodic. But now—boom! Not episodic any more!

TRIXIE. And the biggest bummer of all! We have to wait almost a whole month to find out what happens! No more episodes until after New Year’s!

TESSIE. That’s a long time! But you know why? Because it’s December and it’s Christmas, so we’re probably going to be having a lot of Christmas special instead!

TRIXIE. Yeah!! I wonder what Christmas specials are going to be on?? We should try to find out.

TILLIE. Miss Chrissy has a few on the Shelves. We should see if we can watch one today.PEEWEE

TESSIE. I want to watch the PeeWee Herman Christmas Special! I love that show!

TILLIE. (giggling) Yeah…so do I.

TRIXIE. Ooh, ooh! Yeah! And later today, or maybe tomorrow, we’re having another photo shoot!

TESSIE. You mean the Christmas Fashion Show? But you remember what happened: Miss Chrissy said she can’t find any good Christmas outfits for us, because everything in our size, NB, says “Baby’s First Christmas” on it.

TRIXIE. UGH!! We are NOT babies!

TILLIE. I know. But we can’t help it if we’re the same size as babies.

TESSIE. I like being this size.

TRIXIE. So do I. And I like most of the clothes Miss Chrissy finds for us. But I do NOT like being compared to a baby, because I am NOT a baby.

TILLIE. So then, how are we having a Christmas Fashion Show?

TRIXIE. Haha!! Didn’t you see? Miss Chrissy has Christmas ribbons we can put in our hair!

TESSIE. Yeah, but is that a “Fashion Show”?

TRIXIE. It is, if we want it to be. Hair Fashion!

TILLIE. What about Mr. Squee? Can he wear some ribbons in his hair?SQ

TESSIE. (giggling) I don’t know if he will. I don’t think he’ll find it….dignified….

Well, as you can see, once the Whimsies got around to talking about SHIELD, they didn’t spend too much time on it, and their thoughts easily wandered, because they do indeed have so many other things on their mind. Soon, hopefully, we’ll be bringing you the Christmas Hair Ribbon Fashion Show. See you then!

The Whimsies have been uncharacteristically quiet about the most recent Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD episode. The most I’ve been able to get out them so far is that they’re very concerned about Agent Coulson being kidnapped by the bad guys. Knowing that we have to wait a whole month before we get to see the next episode and find out what happens to him isn’t it making it any better for the Whimsies.

In the meantime, though, I’m trying to distract them with fun Christmas activities. To get started, here are their Official Christmas Portraits for 2013.

Next time we may have a Christmas Fashion Show! Well, at least as soon as the Whims can begin to work out their feelings about Agent Coulson. They do realize it’s just a show, but still, their emotions run deep.

It’s always great to get comfortable new jammies, but it’s even better when there’s a good story behind them.
As mentioned here before, Miss Chrissy is really good about re-using and re-purposing, and in addition to all that, she loves a bargain! Which is why she so often buys our clothes at the Thrift Shop Boutique, which has the best prices in town. But this time, she did not have to go to the Boutique for the best price! Because this time, the local J.C. Penney’s store sent a Coupon through the mail that said if you buy something that is at least $10.00, they will give you $10.00 off!
BLUEJAM

Well…that could be FREE, right? How could anyone resist an offer like that? So Miss Chrissy made a trip to the local J.C. Penney’s, and she is the first to admit that the original intent of her shopping trip was to get herself a new pair of slippers, because the old pair (which she got a couple of years ago, at J.C. Penney’s, with another one of these great Coupons) had worn out, and of course with this recent spell of cold weather here in Whimsieville, a good pair of slipper (or comfy socks) is just the thing to warm you up and make you feel all toasty warm inside.

However…after looking in a few different places in the store, Miss Chrissy reports there were no really nice slippers to be had. Oh, there were the kind with no backs, and the kind with hard soles, but who wants that kind of slipper? It might be right for some people, but not what Miss Chrissy was hoping for. So she decided to take her shopping expedition in a totally different direction.

And of course, she immediately thought of us Whimsies and headed right over to the section of the store with our “NB” clothing. She looked around a bit, and being that most of these items in J.C. Penney’s are priced at two, three, and even TEN times more than in the Thrift Store Boutique, it was hard to find something appropriate.

But then she saw these cute little blue jammies, in exactly the right size (NB), and thought “Hey! The Whims don’t have any BLUE jammies, so this would be perfect for them!”

I think maybe the reason we don’t have any blue jammies is because blue is usually a color worn by BOYS, and of course we Whimsies are NOT boys. But as you can see, these jammies are a nice soft blue color, covered in polar bears. Polar bears are not only for boys or girls, and we don’t mind polar bears, because they are so big, soft and cuddly. And as you can see, if you look really close, even the feet of these jammies have smiling polar bear faces on them! How cool is that?

Very cool, indeed! But here’s the coolest part of all: with the Coupon, Miss Chrissy paid absolutely NOTHING for this beautiful pair of brand new soft, comfortable, good-looking jammies! Absolutely nothing! You can’t do better than that, can you?

slipper2I’m wearing the jammies right now, but Tessie and Tillie are right behind me, patiently waiting their turn in the blue polar bear jammies. You all know how much I love PINK, but for the moment, I’m taking a short break from everything pink to bring a touch of whimsie to the color BLUE.

If it should happen that J.C. Penney’s sends Miss Chrissy another one of those great coupons, she says she’s going to run right back to the store and buy us some more jammies. Because she doesn’t need slippers any more, because she found some really comfy soft slippers (with backs, and soft bottoms, thank you very much!) at another store. And these slippers are speckled in PINK and have pictures of kitty kats all over them!

The Man likes to wear sweatshirts, and of course Mr. Squee always looks lovely in his shiny black fur coat. Then there are polar bear jammies, dinosaur jammies, and kitty kat slippers. Now, ALL of us in Whimsieville are fashionable ready for the cold weather!

lightsLast time, Tillie promised a full report on the Christmas decorations here in Whimsieville. I hope she didn’t get anyone’s expectations up too high, because we are certainly not ostentatious about our decorations. xmastillA few strings of light grace the bushes in the front of the house, but nothing like what you see here on the left. No, this is not Whimsieville at Christmas. Whimsieville may indeed have a tree, and a wreath on the door, and few stockings hung by the chimney with care, but we are simple folk, and we are not going to win any neighborhood awards.

All that being said, let’s get on with our humble presentation!

First, I thought I would start by taking a picture of some of those “stockings hung by the chimney with care” (which of course is actually not a chimney at all, but a fireplace), and it seems that while I was pointing the camera, setting up the shot, Tillie thought I was ready to snap, and ran in exclaiming, “Wait a minute!! Wait for me!” and got her head into the picture. Well, she looks so adorable here, and so full of Christmas cheer, I simply saw no need for another picture.

xmastessTessie has said many times that the thing she likes most about Christmas is the lights, and so she wanted to pose with a string of colorful twinklers that I’ve hung around the window in the Whimsie’s bedroom. She, too, looks adorable. She’s been bugging me to hang more twinklers, but a lot of them from last year went dead in storage, and I haven’t had time yet to go to the store and buy more. More bright lights may yet happen before the Christmas season is over, but in the meantime, these colorful twinklers give the Whimsies’ room a cheery glow each evening.

xmastrixSpeaking of “glow,” Trixie chose a different mood for her Christmas portrait and opted to pose with the arrangement of Christmas candles and pine cones that are currently serving as a centerpiece on the Big Table. What a different mood in this this picture! So serene! And I wish you could tell this from the picture, but the pine cones have such a lovely smell!

Finally, what would Christmas be without a tree? There were two for the Whimsies to choose from, one green, the other silver, and they unanimously chose the silver. When I asked why, they all said that being children of the 60’s, they have many fond memories of silver trees, which were of course very mod and posh back in the day. In fact, back in that day, when I was much younger and Tessie and I first knew each other, we spent a number of Christmases around a pretty silver aluminum tree, similar to this one, though much, much bigger.
xmasallThe Whimsies tree is small, because they are small, but that does not mean they are small on Christmas spirit. In fact, I would say the Whims have as much Christmas spirit as Ebenezer Scrooge on Christmas morning, after his visit from the three ghosts!

And so here, for your holiday enjoyment, we present a scene from Scrooge, one of our very favorite Christmas movies ever. We dare you to take a look and not go away teary-eyed and smiling.
