Hi! Trixie here! I know last time Tessie told you all about how Spring is on its way, but somehow, once Spring starts to spring, I find the warmer weather so exciting that I just can’t help but look forward to Summer!
Going through our wardrobe, I found this lovely Summer dress in a bright floral pattern, so I put it on and headed outside. It would be great if we had a pair of sandals for a dress like this, but until Miss Chrissy can find sandals in our size (NB), I decided this dress would look just fine with our shoes. So, with my little feet tight and comfortable in shoes and socks, I took a romp outdoors, and soon found myself near the BBQ grill, which brought back so many pleasant memories of Summertime that I asked Miss Chrissy to take my picture here.
As you may know, we Whimsies do not eat, but that doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy a good BBQ! We love the smells of food, all kinds of foods. Our noses are turned up for a reason! Not because we’re “snooty,” because we’re not snooty at all! Whimsies are just abut the most un-snooty creatures on the planet. But we do love to smell wonderful smells, and among my favorite smells of all times are the Summertime foods that are cooked outside on the grill.
When we lived in The Hoard, sometimes, in the Summer, the Hoarder would go outside to cook food on a BBQ grill. I don’t think it was because she was such a great cook, or really enjoyed Summertime that much, but simply because it was easy. You see, the stove in the house was piled so high with all kinds of junk that rather than move the junk and clean up the house, weather permitting, she just decided to go outside to cook. And whenever she would go outside to cook on the BBQ grill,
I loved to sneak out and just sniff and sniff all those wonderful smells of hot dogs and hamburgers, grilled onions and peppers, and especially toasted marshmallows!
Personally, I think there should be a perfume called “Toasted Marshmallows.” Is there anything that smells better?
Miss Chrissy and The Man have this BBQ grill, and will use it in the Summer, when the weather is warm all the time. And when they do, I’ll be there…sniffing away! But for now, I just wanted to give that grill a quick inspection and make sure it’s ready for Summertime.
And guess what? It is! And so am I!
A few weeks ago, I reported how I put on a Winter coat and our new shoes to head outside to listen to the first birds of Springtime. Today was the official first day of Spring, and the weather was so beautiful, and so Spring-like, that we asked Miss Chrissy if we might go outside, and she readily agreed. Miss Chrissy was hanging some towels to dry in the bright sunshine, so we figured if that sunshine was good enough for towels, it was good enough for us as well!

Tomorrow the clocks “Spring Ahead” for Daylight Savings Time, and it’s just in time! Because suddenly the weather has taken a turn for the better—if by ‘better” you mean that we can now go outside in some of the pretty warm weather dresses Miss Chrissy has been buying for us all Winter long.
This morning I woke up earlier than anybody else, and stayed in bed a while, listening to the birds chirping outside my window. It suddenly occurred to me that it has been a long time since I’ve heard or seen birds, so I crept to the window and looked outside and sure enough, there were birds busily feeding! Miss Chrissy has left a feeder out for them all Winter, though there haven’t been many visitors. But this morning I saw some cute little gray birds, pecking away at the seed.
I wanted to see the birds, so I stopped by the feeder, but of course, if you come near the feeder, the birds fly away. They’re very skittish like that. But I asked Miss Chrissy to take this picture of me, just so I could post it here, to always remember how crisp and wonderful it felt on this Winter morning, when the promise of Spring is hovering around the edges of the day.
Here in Whimsieville, it strikes me that the seasons are just about right. In the Winter, it doesn’t snow so much that it becomes tiresome (or worse yet, dangerous!) and our Summers are not generally so hot for so long that we despair of ever again feeling cool and comfortable. Autumn and Spring have much to recommend them. I do so love the repeating “Circle of Life!”
hair, which is sort of red, and orange is also sort of red, but our hair is not red in the same way. Still, we are all Whimsies, so in some way you could say we are all sisters. We all have the same freckles on our noses, and with all that red hair, those freckles look just darling on this red-headed Whimsie! Oh! And her saucy bangs are just so cute!
As I mentioned, this Whimsie was seen at the E-Bay Adoption Agency a while ago, and then…she was not seen anymore. Which probably means that someone did indeed adopted her. I hope she went to a nice home, full of people who love Whimsies, and love read-heads, and love Summer. Some of the Whimsies we see at the Adoption Agency do not look as pretty and healthy as this one, and I sometimes worry that they will not find
