Trixie’s been bugging me to say a few words in our new category, Wonderful World of Whimsies. It’s not that I haven’t wanted to, it’s just that I’ve been so busy watching the Olympics! And also sitting by the window, watching the weather, because the weatherman keeps saying “snow,” but then it never actually happens. So I think I’ve decided not to hang on every word the weatherman says.
But anyway, as soon as I decided to take a short break from the Olympics, I found this darling photograph of two BFF Whimsies and just had to say something about them!
First of all…adorable. Right? They both look so happy…and so stylish! I love the blue outfit, it looks casual, comfortable and fun. And the girl in pink is actually wearing the dress that Tessie was stuck in for years and years, but I’ve seen Tessie’s dress in the bottom of the dresser drawer, and it doesn’t look anywhere near as bright and pretty as this one! It’s hard to believe a dress this beautiful could have been kept this nice for over fifty years! Perhaps it was stored in a vacuum-packed bag, and taken out especially for this photo- shoot? That wouldn’t surprise me. I think if Tessie’s dress looked THIS pretty, she would be more inclined to dig it out of the drawer and put it back on.
But after noting all this—and by the way, also noting the wonderful addition of SHOES and SOCKS to these pretty outfits—two things really, really stand out to me. You know how there’s this saying about “the elephant in the room,” when there’s something that’s so obvious but nobody wants to talk about it? Well, I’m going to talk about the “elephant” in this picture, which is not an elephant at all, but a CHICKEN!! And a dead, plucked chicken at that! I mean…for goodness sake, what is THAT all about? Pink Whimsie is wearing the dead plucked chicken around her neck like it’s some magnificent strand of jewels!
What is the thinking here? Is this some new fashion trend of which Trixie, Tessie and I are completely unaware? Is it like, maybe, when Goth Girls wear black lipstick and skull earrings? Is Pink Whimsie trying to SHOCK us with the unexpected? Is she trying to say, “So! Think I’m so cute and adorable, do you? But look, I also have a crude, rude side, so don’t think you can figure me out! I’m going to surprise you at every turn!”
With Goth Girls, it’s not really surprising when they wear dog collars, or skull earring, or Frankenstein boots. You expect all that. What would be surprising is if they put some pretty pink ribbons in their hair. I sure would love to see that sometime.
But as for Pink Whimsie here, the dead chicken is a mystery to me.
Now, one other thing I must mention about these two charming Whimsies, and that’s the lovely little pair of spectacles on Blue Whimsie. How cute! It almost makes me wish I didn’t have perfect eyesight, so I too could wear spectacles. But even as I say this, I have to wonder…if Blue’s friend is wearing a dead chicken around her neck as some strange fashion statement, perhaps Blue doesn’t actually need spectacles, and is merely wearing them as her own personal fashion statement.
As everyone knows, Tess and Trix and I love to wear hats! We are well-documented hat-wearers. That is OUR fashion statement. But looking at these two Whimsies, I’m getting some new ideas for fashion statements. No, not dead chickens! But I wonder what we would look like in some fashionable spectacles. My imagination is activated with the very thought of spectacles! I think I will have to ask Miss Chrissy if there is any way we can get our hands on some spectacles, so we can see if we might want to make them part of our distinctive Whimsical look!
Now I’m sorry that it took me so long to get around to commenting in our new category about other Whimsies. I can see this is going to be an activity full of fun and new ideas. Can’t wait to see what wonderful and whimsical sights we might see next, as we continue to journey through the Wonderful World of Whimsies!
When we all lived in The Hoard, no matter what else you could say about The Hoarder, she sure did love the Olympics, both Winter and Summer, and whenever they were on, she did not shut the TV off for weeks on end! She stayed up all night watching the Olympics, no matter what sport it was. She saw herself as a big supporter of Team USA, and had lots and lots of red, white and blue stuff in The Hoard, lots of flags and patriotic plates and cups, stuff like that. And the Olympics really set her heart on fire!
Of course as we all know, he excels at swimming, and began swimming at a very early age. As a boy, he found out he has ADHD, which are a bunch of initials for a condition meaning he has trouble concentrating, and is sometimes hyperactive. So, to focus, he put all his energy into swimming, and got really really good at it. So good, that he started winning all kinds of medals, right up to the Olympics. And you can’t win any better medals than that!
But wait, there’s more! I haven’t even gotten around to how cute he is! He’s very tall, and somewhat skinny, and has beautiful brown eyes. Sometimes he can look sort of gangly and goofy, but then other times, he’s very handsome.
Here’s his latest look, with the slicked back hair and glasses. I don’t know what that’s all about. Maybe he’s trying to be what Miss Chrissy calls a “hipster”?
The Whims were all aflutter with mixed emotions at the end of this week’s Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD episode. Immediately after watching the show, they sat down together to talk about it, and this is how it went:

After this, the girls talked about the Olympics, and what jammies they were going to wear to the Opening Ceremony—well, not TO the Opening Ceremony, because they’re not going, because they don’t want to get stepped on, but what they planned to wear while watching it on TV, cuddled up under blankets on the couch.
Trixie is workin’ her “Pretty in Pink” vibe, as usual, since pink is her favorite color. Notice her socks, though, with the fluffy pink pom-poms! They’re sort of a cross between socks and slippers. It might be warmer today, but it’s raining, so we have no intentions of going outside, so wearing slippers is entirely appropriate.
I’m in the middle, in blue jeans and a simple long-sleeved white shirt. But what really makes this outfit is the HAT! It’s a blue beret, with a giant sunflower on the top! And also, I added some blue and green striped socks fro our existing wardrobe. Do I look international, or what?
Tillie sure knows how to work that striped gray beanie! And after seeing Trixie’s recent post about the pretty Whimsie in pink and black, she decided to imitate the look. Her pink top has little black flowers, and her pants are gray. Her socks are pink as well, and she’s wearing a pink jacket, with a hood.
Oh, how sad! It makes me want to cry, just looking at her. I think perhaps she reminds me too much of what I once was, before I found my way here to Whimsieville—so lost and forlorn, having nobody to care for me. It just breaks my heart to think of any Whimsie remaining in that state for too long.
