Here in Whimsieville we are all so excited because Fall is finally here! And to celebrate, the Whimsies dragged themselves out of their Summer stupor and attacked their Wardrobe with glee, finding new outfits to celebrate the new season. And then they were so excited by their choices, they hurried into the kitchen to eat the last of the Summer tangerines and drink tea with cinnamon and honey as they reveled in how wonderful they suddenly felt in their new clothes.
As they sat and sipped, each revealed a special reason for why they chose the clothes they did, and it was no surprise to me that their reasonings were very mature and proper, just perfect for their personalities. So, without further ado, I would love to share with you why each Whimsies has so comfortably dressed herself in her particular outfit.
First, we find that Tillie has chosen an ensemble composed almost entirely of complimentary neutrals. Her only “pop” of color comes as a surprise at her ankles—green and white striped socks sitting just above her hiking boots. And what adorable hiking boots they are, in a soft camel suede. They look so comfortable, and Tillie assures me they are. But I didn’t even have to ask, because knowing Tillie, she is always going to wear something pretty yet practical, and would *never* tolerate discomfort simply for the sake of fashion. In this outfit, Tillie is completely prepared to head outdoors and search for beautiful Autumn leaves! Not that there are any quite yet, but when there are…she’ll be the most fashionable (and comfortable) Leaf-Picker out there!
Tessie appears here sans shoes for she has no plans to join Tillie on her Leaf-Hunting Expedition. This Autumn Tillie is planning to play the homebody, hanging about in felt faux cameo pants and her favorite kitty-kat jersey. A pair of comfy white socks will do just fine for her, thank you very much! Tessie has appointed herself the unofficial Tea Mistress of Whimsieville, as here she waits for the kettle to boil so she can serve a hot cuppa to all her pals. The original plan was for honey in the tea, but I wonder if Tessie will try to sneak in a bit of that Monin syrup to make everyone’s beverage extra sweet? (The Whimsies love of sweets is, after all, world-renown!)
The lovely Trixie once again—and unsurprisingly—appears in her signature color—pink! And this cute little empire-waisted dress presents itself in a lovely shade of hot pink that is vivid enough to make a fashion statement when going out on the town, yet also soft and casual enough to be entirely appropriate for a comfortable evening at home. And with those bulky slipper socks, it’s apparent Trixie has decided to stay in!
At least for tonight.
In late October, however, (she tells me) she plans to don this dress again and fill those tiny pockets with strawberry-creme candies to distribute to all the trick-or-treaters bold enough to enter Whimsieville. And when those trick-or-treaters query, “Pardon me, Miss, but who are you dressed as for Halloween?” no doubt she’ll reply, “Why, I’m Elle Wood, of course! Famous attorney and fashion merchandiser!” If Trixie wants a pink pillbox hat, I think I can probably help her rig something up, but one thing concerns me…I can’t help but wonder if now that the Whimsies are overcoming their fear of dogs, Trixie mightwant me to somehow find her a little chichuahua to complete the look?
And now at last we come to Tootsie, and you know for sure she is looking for outdoor fun—most probably some trees to climb! Those sturdy sneakers will protect her feet from any pokey burrs or branches, and her classic denim hat is perfect protection against a sudden shower of raindrops…or falling Autmn leaves!
Trixie has come so far in her time here with us in Whimsieville. At first, she strongly latched on to the Whimsie aversion to wearing Yellow, but here you can see that she proudly embraces this new fashion choice! All the Whimsies have recently overcome their aversion to Yellow, and truly, I am so proud of all of them for getting over such silliness. A Whimsie always looks beautiful, no matter what color she is wearing.
So, now, as you can see, the Whimsies are totally prepared for the new season! They are ready and raring to go, no matter where their paths may take them! Up a tree, catching leaves, braving a crowd of trick-or treaters, or even maybe simply an evening at home with a good cup of tea and a tangerine while watching an old favorite movie about some of the sassy ladies they so admire. With these Whimsies, you never know what might be next!
