THE CHRISTMAS PEPPERMINT FAIRY ANGEL

tessiconhatWhen I first saw this Whimsie, her appearance was so intriguing, I knew I just had to write about her. She has a fresh, bright, beautiful look, which makes you sit up and take notice. I’m calling her The Christmas Peppermint Fairy Angel, because, to me, every one of those words fits her just perfectly.

pepFirst of all, as you know, we are now getting very much closer to Christmas, and there’s something about this outfit which strikes me as so festive. True, there is nothing about her that absolutely screams “Christmas!” but still, she makes me think of the holidays. Maybe it’s all those red and white stripes. Red and white are good Christmas colors, they are the colors of candy canes, and if you close your eyes for a moment, you may not be entirely sure if this Whimsie is holding a lollipop or a candy candy. It could easily be either!

As it turns out, she is indeed holding a lollipop….and a very big one, at that! But don’t look at it for too long, or you might start getting dizzy! With those colors, I’m sure that lollipop has a peppermint flavor, same as a candy cane. With all those red and white stripes, if this Whimsie is not named “Peppermint,” then I don’t know what to call her!

Her cozy white slippers (and just a sliver of red socks showing through) say it’s cold outside, and time to cuddle up indoors, away from the snow, and break off a piece of that peppermint lollipop to swirl around in a big cup of hot chocolate, while watching Christmas TV specials like Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, and A Charlie Brown Christmas. While she’ s watching TV, she keeps her favorite little red bear close by her side. Little Red Bear was no doubt a gift from Santa Claus last year, and as such, is particularly fond of Christmas TV specials. (Though not of peppermint or hot chocolate, for as everyone knows, stuffed bears don’t eat or drink!)

But now let’s go back up to the top, and here we see a lot of fluffy bright, white hair. Oh, I have never seen such white hair on a Whimsie before! When we think of white hair, we usually think of old ladies, but surely this Whimsie is not that! First of all, though Whimsies tend to live a long, long time, they never truly get “old,” they just become classic, and well-seasoned. And besides, look at her skin! It’s flawless! Bright and clear, with just the right amount of freckles. It appears Miss Peppermint has had a very easy, pampered, sheltered life, with no spells spent in an Attic, or Basement, or (worse yet!) a Hoard, OR…she has recently found someone who loves her very much and is taking very good care of her.

angel2So I love her white hair. It reminds me of an Angel. (I always imagine angels have ethereal, white hair.) That’s why I call her an Angel. But I also call her a Fairy, because her huge lollipop reminds me of a Magic Wand! Squint your eyes just a little, and you can imagine that after Peppermint has her cocoa and watches her TV specials, she’ll fly off under power of that Magic Lollipop Wand, searching the world for all the good little boys and girls who deserve extra candy canes and lollipops in their Christmas stockings, hung by the chimney with care. Then she’ll report this information back to Santa, and he’ll complete the order.

Because, you know, Santa can’t do everything by himself! He has to have some helpers! Usually they are called Elves, and….hmmmm….maybe this Whimsie is not a Fairy OR an Angel at all, maybe she is in fact one of Santa’s elves!

Do you think it could be true?

Well, Elf or Fairy or Angel, I think she’s simply beautiful. And even if she is just an ordinary Whimsie, like me and Tillie and Trixie, I’m perfectly fine with that. Because in her festive outfit, with her bright eyes and huge smile, clutching her bear and her lollipop, she represents everything that is great and magical in the Wonderful World of Whimsies.
